Today we watched a video that showed us how to do a devisement exercise. The end goal was to devise a set of movements to do with a partner. The movements were not supposed to have any specific intention of backstory behind them which was very difficult for me. It was weird just doing a movement to do it and not have any real reasoning behind it, but it also did help to get me out of my head and just do. My partner was Maggie, she was partner A so she did the first 3 movements. During this part I let her take the lead and sat back and watched. I was partner B and I did the last 3 movements. We both worked together on the seventh movement to get it to connect back to the first movement. We ended up with a cool set of movements that really began to flow into each other. After practicing a couple of times it looked and felt very natural.
It was interesting to see how ours differed from other groups. Maggie and I used only our arms for the movements and another group changed the direction they were facing at one point in their movements.
