Compared to the mini RP I did a lot more research for Criterion A and I learned a lot more than I expected to. I researched the sounds and acting styles used. Something really interesting I learned about this is that they would play a specific instrument for each stock character. For example a trumpet was played for the hero each time. I found this to be an interesting fact because it helped audiences identify each character easily. Learning about the evolution of Victorian Melodrama was also interesting to me and below I included my slide about this from my presentation. After learning about Victorian Melodrama, I see its influence in a lot of movies and tv shows now.

In A2 I had to do a lot more research than I was expecting and I think that this helped to shape how I research a lot. I have not always been someone that enjoys researching or is very good at it. However this project taught me a lot about researching and how to find good sources and helpful information. I learned about the villain’s movements and explored how a villain would typically move in Victorian Melodrama. Below is another slide from my presentation that details the different types of movement the villain stock character would do.
